Call for Nominations: Sankalp Forum Seeks India and Africa Early-stage High-impact Clean Energy Enterprises

Nominations are open to the 6th Annual Sankalp Awards (for India-based enterprises) and first ever Sankalp Awards for Africa (for East Africa-based enterprises). Innovative and scalable high-impact emerging enterprises focused on affordable clean energy access and innovative payment mechanisms to underserved and unelectrified regions.

Sankalp Awards is an initiative of the Sankalp Forum, a social enterprise focused platform. Since 2009, Sankalp Awards has been bringing the spotlight on sustainable and scalable leading social innovations that bring wide scale impact and have showcased more than 100 enterprises and facilitated over USD 120 million of equity investments.

With Sankalp Awards in 2014, shortlisted enterprises will receive strategic mentoring, opportunity to pitch to leaders from global financial institutions & investment houses and access to global networks & media. Moreover, the finalists enterprises In India and Africa will receive the opportunity to present their businesses to a global audience at the regional conventions respectively. High-impact African SMEs will be showcased at the Sankalp Africa Summit in Kenya on 12-13 Feb 2014 and the Indian enterprises will have the opportunity to present to a 1000+ audience at the Sankalp Unconvention Summit 2014 in April in Mumbai.

Aparajita Agrawal, director of Sankalp Forum, said, “Through the Sankalp Awards, we aim to demonstrate the ability of a sustainable enterprise to combine innovation and an astute spirit of entrepreneurship to create access to basic facilities where they don’t exist. With the Sankalp Africa program, we aim to create knowledge-share opportunities & wider network linkages for both African and Indian entrepreneurs and businesses.”
